Classroom Activities

Many age-appropriate special activities take place throughout the school year at CDSW.  These include:

  • Music Class: Daily classroom music is enriched by visits from CDSW's music teacher.  Every month,
the children have the opportunity to enjoy creative music, dancing and singing.

  • Movement Class: CDSW has a physical education specialist who provides a movement class twice
every month to enhance the development of large motor skills.

  • Wee Amigos Program: This program is included for children enrolled in the Threes, Fours and
Fives classes.  From October through April, the children will have a Spanish lesson each week.
Children will enjoy each fun-filled lesson designed to engage them in the sounds of the Spanish
language through listening, speaking, music and games.

  • Special Visitors: The children learn about themselves and their community through school visits
from representatives of the Wilton Police Department, Wilton Fire Department, Wilton Public
    Library and Wilton Post Office.

  • Field Trips: The Fours and Fives programs go on several field trips, including Warrups Farm,
Woodcock Nature Center, New Pond Farm, the Garbage Museum, and the Wilton Bus Barn.

  • Outreach: The children learn the importance of helping others by supporting 2-3 community
    outreach programs per year
